Our first meeting started at 10:00am on June 21, 2003.
Unfortunately, Dave had to work and could not make it
with the A1200 and Mediator. Maybe next time. The meeting
began with myself, Jack, Michael, Loran, Ken and Cameron
discussing various Amiga's we have owned over the years,
and of course what we have used them for.
I set up the A3000 and hooked it up to our broadband
network to show Ibrowse 2.3 (demo version) and Yam.
I also had Dynamite installed to show connecting to
live internet servers and played a couple of rounds.
Jack brought along an external 880k floppy, which I
wound up with since my internal one is dying. (Thank
you Jack!). He also had a GVP 030 expansion unit, complete
with hard drive and ram for the A500 which was given
away to Loran.
Doug and Debbie arrived around noon with the AmigaOne.
The case was opened so we could get a look at the board
first hand (and take pics). Doug also had his laptop
with AmigaDE installed and ran various software like
Planet Zed, and several other games. It was nice to
see some of these things in action instead of just screenshots.
The AmigaOne was running Debian and seemed really quick.
Doug showed numerous videos played back on the AmigaOne,
including some footage shot at previous Amiga shows
and the TechTV interview with Bill McEwen. He was also
running SETI at Home on the AmigaOne and on his laptop!
Over all, it was a fun and informative meeting. I enjoyed
meeting everyone, and look forward to our next meeting.
