I finally took the plunge and my new SAM system should be with me soon. Here's the rundown on what it'll have...
667Mhz SAM440ep Flex board with 1GB RAM
Black/Red Case with 250W PSU
Radeon 9250 128MB graphics
320GB Hard Disk with OS 4.1 installed and backup CD, OS 4.1 manual, license code and box.
DVDRW drive
USB Keyboard and USB Mouse
I opted for the tower style instead of the cube case. I'll be posting more info once I get my hands on it. If you guys are interested in having a look at it we can have another get together and I'll bring it for a showing. Maybe we can get Scott and Lyle's machines to do some comparisons. I believe there was talk of someone picking up the classic version as well. If nobody has upgraded to 4.1 it would be a good time to have a look at that as well. Let me know if you're interested. |

|
|
I updated the U-Boot to version 1.3.1a earlier this evening. Everything went smoothly with no issues. Thanks to a post over at Amigaworld I made sure to move my keyboard to the top rear USB port so that it would function during the update process.
Although I fail to understand the obsession with boot times, I ran a before and after time just to check for a difference. Before the update was 50 seconds and after the update was 45 seconds. All my boot settings are still "stock" from Amigakit.
I'm eagerly awaiting the next patch that has been announced and will be doing a clean install when it is released. Look for a post with details on how it goes when it's released. |
